Express Entry · rules in effect November 3, 2026
Will it count for Express Entry points, and will it hold up?
A job offer in a high-wage occupation can now add 50, 70 or 100 CRS points, and you no longer need an LMIA. An IRCC officer still checks that the offer is genuine before you get permanent residence.
Answer four short steps. Each one opens the next.
Start the checkStep 1 of 4
Points depend on the NOC code of the job, not on the salary in your offer. Search by code or job title.
186 occupations from IRCC's high-wage list, data from 2023 to 2025.
Step 2 of 4
Finish step 1 to open this.
IRCC only counts an offer that meets every one of these. If you're not sure, ask your employer to put it in the letter.

IRCC gives you points for a job offer or for Canadian work experience, whichever is higher. They are not added together.
TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3, in the last 10 years.
Combined time across high-wage occupations counts.
Points for work experience come from the Ministerial Instructions for Express Entry, section 15.
Step 4 of 4
Finish step 3 to open this.
An officer must be satisfied the offer is real. IRCC lists six things they look at. Tick the evidence you or your employer could send if asked. The examples come from what officers request in work permit cases.

For the job offer or work experience factor, whichever is higher.
Next: how to add the offer to your Express Entry profile
A licensed immigration lawyer reviews your job offer, the evidence your employer can provide, and your Express Entry profile, so the points you claim are points you can keep.

PRJOBS shows you which jobs line up with immigration programs. It isn't a placement service.
Job offers count for CRS points again, but only when the job is in a high-wage occupation. An offer in any other occupation adds no points.
You no longer need a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for the offer to count. Having one doesn't give you extra points.
IRCC is recalculating the scores of profiles already in the pool. This can take up to two weeks, and IRCC has paused invitation rounds until it's done.

It depends on the level of the occupation, measured against the median wage in Canada.
| Level | Job offer | Bonus for 12 months of work there |
|---|---|---|
| 2 times the median wage | 100 points | 70 points |
| 1.5 times the median wage | 70 points | 40 points |
| 1.3 times the median wage | 50 points | 20 points |
Canadian work experience also earns points: 40, 53, 64, 72, 80 for 1 to 5 years or more, or 35, 46, 56, 63, 70 if your spouse or partner comes with you. The high-wage bonus is added on top when you have worked at least 12 months in high-wage occupations.
You get the job offer points or the work experience points, whichever is higher. IRCC never adds them together. The most you can get for this factor is 150 points, or 140 with a spouse or partner.
You have an offer as a software engineer (NOC 21231, 1.5 times the median wage) and 1 year of Canadian work experience in another job. The offer is worth 70 points and your experience 40. You get 70, so the offer adds 30 points.
Same offer, but you have 3 years of Canadian work experience, all of it at the 1.5 level. Your experience is worth 64 + 40 = 104 points. You get 104, so the offer adds 0.

186 occupations are on IRCC's list. The level comes from the occupation's NOC code, not from your own salary. IRCC keeps the level that applied on the day it invited you, even if the list changes later.

For every Express Entry program, IRCC says the offer must:
The offer can be with your current employer or a new one.
To count toward eligibility, the offer must be from one employer, for continuous, paid, full-time work (at least 30 hours a week) that isn't seasonal, in an occupation at TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3.
The offer can be from up to two employers, for continuous, paid, full-time work in one of the listed skilled trades.

An officer must be satisfied that the offer is real. IRCC lists six things they look at:
In work permit cases, officers ask for things like a CRA business number, a business licence, a T4 Summary, corporate tax schedules, a workers' compensation clearance letter, a job description and a note on why the role is needed. Step 4 of the check lists them all.
"In your profile, you'll still be required to select 'yes' when asked if you have a positive LMIA, even though you don't need one."
| Question | Enter |
|---|---|
| Was a positive LMIA issued for the job offer in Canada? | Yes |
| LMIA Number | 00000 |
| LMIA Issuance Date | January 1, 2026 |
| LMIA Expiry Date | January 1, 2029 |

No. Since November 3, 2026, you don't need a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) for a job offer to count. Having one doesn't give you extra points.
50, 70 or 100 points, depending on the level of the occupation: 1.3, 1.5 or 2 times the median wage. The occupation has to be on IRCC's high-wage list. An offer in any other occupation adds no CRS points.
Search your NOC code or job title in step 1, or look it up in the full list on this page. The level comes from the NOC code of the job, not from your own salary.
No. IRCC gives you whichever is higher. The most you can get for this factor is 150 points, or 140 if your spouse or partner comes with you.
No. IRCC says the offer can be with an existing or a new employer. To be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker program, the offer has to be from one employer.
IRCC says to answer Yes to the positive LMIA question, enter 00000 as the LMIA number, January 1, 2026 as the issuance date and January 1, 2029 as the expiry date. Check IRCC's job offer page before you submit in case this changes.
An officer looks at whether the employer is an active business, can meet the terms of the offer, has a real need for the role and follows employment laws, and whether you're qualified for the job and will take it. The genuineness section on this page lists the evidence employers are asked for.
IRCC says a job offer that is revoked no longer qualifies. If your points depended on it, your score can change. Talk to a lawyer before you submit your application.
It adds no CRS points. It can still make you eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades programs.
